Il parcourt la campagne romaine, carnet en main, pour dessiner arbres, collines, ruines et effets de lumi\u00e8re \u00e0 toutes les heures du jour. Selon son biographe Filippo Baldinucci, c&rsquo;est pour cette raison qu&rsquo;il tient, \u00e0 partir de 1635-1636, un album o\u00f9 il dessine ses tableaux avant de les livrer, en notant souvent le nom de l&rsquo;acheteur. On lui a donn\u00e9 plus tard le nom de <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Liber_Veritatis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liber Veritatis<\/a>, le \u00ab livre de v\u00e9rit\u00e9 \u00bb. Ce document unique, conserv\u00e9 au <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/British_Museum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British Museum<\/a>, est \u00e0 la fois un catalogue raisonn\u00e9 et un chef-d&rsquo;\u0153uvre graphique.
